Durham police are notifying the public that a man with a history of violence has been released from federal custody and will be living in Oshawa.

Joshua Thomas, 32, has just completed a seven-year, 11-month sentence for aggravated sexual assault, stemming from an incident in September 2006.

Police note that he has completed his sentence and is therefore a free man and permitted to reintegrate into the community.

Durham police’s High Risk Offender Community Panel, who agreed that a public notification would be appropriate, reviewed Thomas’ case. In addition, Thomas has had conditions imposed on his activities due to a recognizance under the Criminal Code.

Thomas is described as white, six feet tall and approximately 185 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Members of the public are asked to contact police if they have any information regarding suspicious conduct involving Thomas.
