A 15-year-old Oshawa teen has been charged with dangerous driving after officers had to deploy a spike belt to stop his vehicle.
On Thursday, Oct. 8 around 10 p.m., a red Honda with stolen plates was observed driving in an erratic manner southbound on Simcoe Street in Scugog Township. The driver was driving at a high rate of speed and swerving all over the road.
Police say he initially lost control near Simcoe Street and Shirley Road and the vehicle spun out of control. However, the driver continued to speed away.
Responding officers utilized a spike belt to stop the vehicle. The driver lost control of the vehicle once again and hit a guard rail before being arrested. The teen suffered minor injuries.
The 15-year-old Oshawa male is charged with dangerous driving and possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
