Impaired driver slams into house

A Whitby man is facing charges after an impaired driver crashed into the front of an Oshawa home while fleeing the police.

On Wednesday, Oct, 12 at approximately 2:45 a.m., an officer observed a grey Honda travelling southbound on Albert Street in Oshawa – a one-way street for northbound traffic. When the officer activated his cruiser’s roof lights, the Honda drove off, going through the stop sign at Olive Avenue.

There, the vehicle lost control as it attempted to turn east onto Mitchell Avenue, where it struck a house on Drew Street. The driver, who was not injured, was arrested without further incident.

The collision is estimated to have caused $10,000 in damage.

A 34-year-old male of Jansen Court in Whitby is charged with impaired driving; exceeding 80 mgs; and failure to stop for police.
