Arrests after Canadian Tire break-in

Two Oshawa men are facing charges after a hardware store in Port Perry was broken into.

At approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, Durham police responded to the Canadian Tire on Simcoe Street for an alarm call. On scene, officers found a ladder extended to a second-floor window, with two males coming down. Both suspects fled on foot in different directions.

One suspect was arrested after being discovered in the waters of a nearby marsh. The second suspect was not found.

A third suspect was arrested after being found waiting inside a vehicle on Oyler Drive. Inside the vehicle, police discovered a two-way radio, a mask and gloves.

A 34-year-old male of Ritson Road South has been charged with break and enter, possession of break-in instruments and failure to comply with a probation order.

A 19-year-old male of Rideau Street has been charged with break and enter and possession of break-in instruments.
