On behalf of Canadian Blood Services, I’d like to encourage the residents of Oshawa and Durham Region to support Canada’s lifeline by donating blood at the Oshawa blood donor centre at 1300 Harmony Road North.
Thanks and appreciation come in many forms. For some, Thanksgiving is the time to cook up a feast and reconnect with loved ones. For others, it’s an opportunity to celebrate healthcare in Canada and help patients in need.
Every week, more than 250 donations are needed in Oshawa. Donations often decrease around the long weekend as regular donors are away or busy with friends and family. If you are on the road over the long weekend, we encourage you to give where you go.
Making an appointment to donate has never been easier. To find a donor centre close to your destination, download the GiveBlood app, call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283) or book now at blood.ca. Walk-in appointments are also available.
In Uxbridge on Friday, Oct. 11 from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Uxbridge Senior’s Centre (75 Marietta Street), we need your help to fill more than 20 open appointments.
Our fixed donor centre in Oshawa operates every Monday and Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will be open and operating regular hours Friday through Monday over the long weekend.
Please make an appointment to give blood over Thanksgiving. Somewhere, a patient and their family will be thankful.
