Arrest warrant issued for man suspected in thefts

Police are looking for a 40-year-old man suspected in several robberies over the past few months.
After numerous attempts to locate him have failed, an arrest warrant has now been issued for a Simon Haagaard of no fixed address.
During the month of June, police allege Haagaard attended four separate gas stations located in Pickering, Ajax and Oshawa, pumped fuel into his vehicle and left without paying.
Police say Haagaard was also captured on video surveillance using stolen credit cards to purchase items at two separate gas stations in Whitby.
It is alleged that Haagaard was also responsible for several vehicle break-ins at Honey’s Beach Road in Scugog. Police have located the suspect’s vehicle abandoned in the Raglan area but his whereabouts are unknown.
Investigators do not believe there is a threat to community safety, but want the accused to contact a lawyer and turn himself in.
It is an offence for any friend or acquaintance to aid and abet him while he is wanted by police.
Haagaard is wanted for 10 criminal charges, including: possession of stolen property obtained by crime; using a stolen credit card; fraud under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
Anyone with new information about his location is asked to contact D/Cst. Burns of the North Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2676.
