Ross joins man’s UOIT hockey program

The UOIT Ridgebacks men’s hockey program roster is starting to fill out ahead of next season.

The newest addition, Jordan Ross of Kronau, Sask., comes to the Ridgebacks from the Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). He spent the last four years with the organization, playing 140 games and notching 30 goals and 85 points, along with winning a national championship.

“Jordan is a big body who skates well and has the ability to play all three forward positions,” states head coach Curtis Hodgins in a news release “His coach in Yorkton speaks very highly of his character and future potential and he fits one of our needs in terms of adding skill with size. He will be a nice addition to our program.”

At the 2017 Terriers annual awards banquet, Ross received the Subway second star and playoff MVP awards.

In his junior career, he also played 38 games with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League.

Ross joins Josh Maguire and Jesse Baird, both from the Cobourg Cougars, who have committed to the Ridgebacks over the offseason.

Last season, Hodgins led UOIT back to the postseason, where they lost their opening round series 2-1 to the Concordia Stingers.
