Lacrosse deserves more coverage

Dear Editor,

Lacrosse is our co-national sport in Canada. Therefore, local community papers (like The Oshawa Express) need to endeavour for more coverage of our senior lacrosse teams.

In 2016, the Durham Turfdogs won the CLAX Creators Cup for the first time, and the coverage was increasingly poor. However, the league folded for 2017, to be replaced by the inaugural season of the Arena Lacrosse League (ALL).

Again, Oshawa was well represented with the Oshawa Outlaws (who had a good Turfdog nucleus of players) and won the first season’s championship!

Sadly, community newspaper coverage was paltry to non-existent.

All the lacrosse players who take to the concrete or Astroturf floors appreciate newsprint coverage of their athletic exploits.

So if the ALL comes back for another season, please find some space for us lacrosse fans (not just for Gens hockey and Oshawa baseball and UOIT sports). Remember, lacross is the fastest game on two feet.
