Oshawa libraries open for take-out service

The wait is over for bookworms looking for something new to read as Oshawa Public Libraries is opening its doors for take-out service.

All four library branches in Oshawa will be open Tuesdays to Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The first phase of the take-out service will focus on clearing the backlog of library holds.

There are a few things residents need to be aware of before heading to the library to pick up their items.

A staff member will contact you to make an appointment and provide easy pick-up instructions when your request is ready. At the pre-arranged time and library branch, residents will be asked to show their library card, then the items will be placed on a table in a designated spot located immediately outside the library for a safe, quick, contactless pick-up, according to a press release from Oshawa Public Libraries.

External Book Return Chutes will open once the library take-out service begins at each location. Staff will not be accepting library materials directly from customers at this time.

Due dates for previously checked out materials have been extended until July 3.

Access to inside the library buildings remains closed and book donations are not being accepted at this time.
