Mass vaccine clinics winding down
The Oshawa Campus Ice Centre mass immunization clinic will be closing in September.
As the need for large vaccination clinics are coming to an end in many parts of Ontario, including Durham Region, mass vaccine clinics across the region will begin to close.
The last clinic date for the Oshawa Campus Ice Centre mass immunization clinic is Sept. 14, 2021.
The clinic will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30, and September 2, 3, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13 and 14.
Anyone needing a first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine can book an appointment at covidvaccine.lh.ca or walk in on the dates and times indicated.
Despite the ramp down, Lakeridge Health says anyone who wants a vaccine will still be able to get one.
Durham Region Health Department is planning to open smaller, community clinics for individuals who have waited or were unable to access the mass immunization clinics.
The COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for anyone age 12 and older. All Durham Region residents are encouraged to get vaccinated with a first and second dose as soon as they are eligible,
Lakeridge Health says getting vaccinated will help protect themselves and others against variants of concern, including the Delta variant that is circulating in Durham Region.
