Driver flees after striking pedestrian

Police allege a driver fled after hitting a female pedestrian, leaving her with serious injuries.

On Thursday, Aug. 8 at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Simcoe Street South near the westbound 401 on-ramp for reports of a pedestrian struck.

A 30-year-old female was located with serious injuries.

Witnesses said the male driver of the vehicle briefly stopped before returning to his car and heading onto the westbound 401. The woman was taken to a Toronto trauma centre where she remains in stable condition.

The driver is described as a white male, 5’8″ tall, approximately 50 years old with a medium to heavy build.

He had dark hair and was wearing a dark T-shirt and dark baseball cap.

His vehicle is described as a maroon Chevy Cruze.
