Domestic-related incident leads to female arrest
A 24-year-old female is facing numerous firearms-related charges after a domestic-related incident in Oshawa over the weekend.
On Aug. 8 around 12 p.m., Durham police responded to a residence in the area of Wilson Road South and Dean Avenue in Oshawa for an armed person call.
The female suspect arrived at the residence in a taxi and when she exited the taxi, she pistol-whipped the driver and fled on foot.
The female then gained entry into a nearby residence by smashing the window with the firearm. The occupants fled the scene with a 10-day-old infant as they were concerned for their safety.
It appeared the incident stemmed from a custody dispute.

The taxi driver sustained minor injuries.
Police have not yet located the firearm used in the offences.
The 24-year-old female from Oshawa is charged with 17 criminal charges, including break and enter, two counts of using a firearm during commission of offence, assault with a weapon, fraudulently obtaining transportation, and breach of probation. She was held for a bail hearing.
