DIY sportscaster speaking at Oshawa Public Library
Steve “Dangle” Glynn will be at the Oshawa Public Library McLaughlin branch on Aug. 22.
Being a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs can be difficult at times, and a GTA sportscaster is willing to share his view of the everlasting struggle.
Steve “Dangle” Glynn has gained recognition for YouTube videos and podcasts, as well as his appearances on Toronto-based sports radio station The Fan 590.
He recently completed his latest book, This Team is Ruining My Life (But I Love Them): How I Became A Professional Hockey Fan.
Dangle documents how he managed to turn a 16-second online rant about the Maple Leafs into a career in sports media.
He also discusses how in an evolving media landscape, people must be creative to find their dream job.
Dangle is also known for starting the “Marner Jar,” a joke he came up with to stop Leafs fans from complaining about a player being successful.
Fans were challenged to donate money, into the virtual “Marner Jar,” every time they begin to worry about the upcoming contract of forward Mitch Marner.
The tongue-in-cheek idea has gone on to raise thousands of dollars for SickKids Hospital.
Dangle will be on hand at the McLaughlin Branch of the Oshawa Public Library on Thursday, Aug. 22 to discuss his book.
The appearance takes place between 6 to 7 pm at the branch’s auditorium.
