Citizen leads police to man who broke into his home

An Oshawa man is being credited by police for alerting them to a man he found breaking into his home.

The incident began around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 27 when the man noticed someone trying to break into his house. The man was able to scare off the would-be thief and immediately called police.

The resident continued to follow the man and witnessed him trying to break into other homes in the area.

When police arrived they began searching the area with the help of the DRPS K-9 unit and Police Service Dog Rogue who were able to apprehend the suspect hiding inside a residence.

The 16-year-old male of Oshawa is charged with two counts of breaking and entering and several drug-related charges after being found with cocaine, cannabis and Xanax. He was held for a bail hearing.
