Traffic stop leads to drug charge

A 26-year-old Oshawa man is facing charges after he was found driving with an open can of beer and in possession of drugs.

On March 5, in the area of Taunton Road West and Stevenson Road North in Oshawa, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired license plates.

When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed a strong odor of cannabis. Upon further investigation, an open can of beer was found as well as cannabis and cocaine.

The street value of the drugs totaled more than $20,000.

The man of Paddington Court in Oshawa, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession for the purpose of selling (cannabis), possession for the purpose of distributing (cannabis), driving with no license, valid plates or insurance, and also driving with open liquor and cannabis readily available.
