Teacher charged with historic sexual assault

A 43-year-old Oshawa teacher has been charged with a historical sex assault on a student.

Durham police arrested a high school teacher on Thursday, Aug. 19, after allegations were made by a former student. The suspect is a teacher at Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School located on Harwood Avenue North in Ajax. The alleged assault took place in June 2009.

The teacher has been charged with sexual assault and was released on an undertaking.

Durham police want to ensure there are no other victims.
