A 33-year-old male from Oshawa faces several charges after concerned citizens alerted Durham Regional Police regarding an erratic driver.
On Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at approximately 11:20 p.m., a citizen called police to report a suspected impaired driver in the area of Olive Avenue and Grandview Street South in Oshawa. The vehicle was seen swerving dangerously on the road.
Officers attended and the vehicle was being blocked from leaving the area by concerned citizens. The driver was found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was placed under arrest and taken to East Division, where the accused failed a standard field sobriety test.
The 33-year-old is charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle by drugs, possession of fentanyl and two counts of breaching an officer-in-charge undertaking.
Upton was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for a large crack in his windshield obstructing his view, and failure for having enough tie downs for a ladder that was improperly affixed to the roof of his vehicle.
The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
