Serious injuries in crash at Olive and Wilson

An Oshawa man suffered serious life-threatening injuries after a Sunday night crash.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, police responded to the area of Olive Avenue and Wilson Road South for a multi-vehicle incident.

According to police, a 46-year-old male was driving a white Dodge Challenger east on Olive when it ran a red light at Olive, hitting a northbound blue Dodge pickup truck waiting to turn left on to Olive.

The Challenger then continued east on to a property on the north side of the road, hitting a parked vehicle before coming to a stop. The parked car hit the house it was parked next to due to the impact. Police say the debris from the incident spread over a city block, and that the force of the collision also dislodged the truck’s engine block.

Police say the Challenger was speeding at the time of the incident.

The Challenger’s driver was removed from his vehicle and taken by air ambulance to a Toronto hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.

The truck’s driver, a 17-year-old male, and one of his passengers, another 17-year-old male, were both taken to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries. They are both in stable condition.

Another passenger in the truck, a 17-year-old female, was treated for minor injuries and has since been released.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or had seen the Challenger prior to the incident to call Det. Const. Ashfield at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5226.
