Series of commercial vehicles taken off road following blitz

A dozen commercial vehicles were taken off the road during a recent blitz in Oshawa and Bowmanville due to safety concerns.

On Sept. 20, Durham Regional Police Service officers from the North Division, East Division and the Traffic Services branch were joined by representatives from the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of the Environment to hold the two-day commercial motor vehicle inspection blitz.

Police say the team inspected 25 vehicles and took 12 of them out of service due to a series of concerns, including improper brakes and insecure loads. Officers laid 35 charges for various mechanical, weight and document-related infractions.
