Rebels Crush number one team in Ontario

Durham Region is home to the province’s top 12U girls’ volleyball team.

Rebels Crush of the Durham Rebels Volleyball Club (DRVC) capped off their season by winning the 2019 Ontario Volleyball Provincial Championship title.

Rebels Crush competed against teams from around the province in the two-day Ontario Volleyball Association’s championship finals at RIM Park in Waterloo.

Day one of the championships saw Rebels Crush go undefeated, taking them into day two as a number one seed.

To make their way to the Division 1 championship finals, Rebels Crush defeated teams from Markham, Toronto, and Mississauga.

In the gold medal game, the girls matched up against the Halton Hurricanes Black team from Hamilton.

The two-set game was close but the Rebels Crush came out with the gold along with the title of top 12U team in Ontario.

Throughout the entire championship event, Rebels Crush went undefeated winning all seven games, with their only loss being a single set that had the Crush on the short end of a 28-26 set.

Prior to the Ontario Volleyball Association championships, Crush competed in nine different 12U and 13U tournaments around the province.

With gold medal wins in Scarborough, Kingston, Barrie, and Stouffville, the Rebels were ranked number two in the province going into the championships. The team now holds the number one rank to finish off their season.

DRVC offers competitive and recreational youth volleyball programs throughout Durham Region with 11 rep teams competing in the Ontario Volleyball Association.
