Reader thankful for Canada’s gun laws

Dear Editor,

It is with great joy that I write this opinion.

The police are letting people of Ontario call them to pick up unwanted firearms. This is wonderful and I know that a lot of people do not feel that they want to give up their firearms. What will I get for a gun, after all, they are quite expensive to buy. Most of these people will ask this among other questions.

Guns kill people. We have nowhere to look but to our neighbors to the south to see what guns can do. I am so glad I live in Canada with the gun laws that we have and the laws coming on down the line. The gun laws that we currently have are going to be even stronger. That is a fact and there is nothing you can do about it. The gun laws do not violate your charter rights, and if they did so I am sure there are a few Canadians that would be able to afford an attorney to fight this.

I am sure there are a lot of gun owners out there that do not agree with me and I am quite sure that your mind could not be changed. Think of this though; a lot of Canadians go across the border and I am quite sure that no one thinks they will be wounded or killed.

What could you do about it? Nothing. Now that your family has been ripped apart are you not glad that we as Canadians have the gun laws we have?
