The Durham Regional Police are advising residents of the presence of a deadly drug within the region after the first confirmed overdose incident within Durham.
The drug, carfentanil, is a synthetic opioid 100 times more potent than fentanyl. This narcotic is marketed as a tranquilizer for large animals. A very small amount of this drug can be lethal.
The DRPS encourage members of the community to help by providing information about the illegal trafficking and distribution of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs within our communities. Residents can assist this initiative by providing information that can combat the issue, which has negatively impacted many families and individuals in the Greater Toronto Area.
