Pedestrian injured in collision

A 25-year-old female was seriously injured after being struck while crossing the road in Oshawa recently.

On July 9, around 9:04 p.m., Durham police were called to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Taunton Road and Simcoe Street in Oshawa. The female pedestrian was crossing Taunton Road, within the crosswalk, and was struck by a white Honda Civic proceeding eastbound through the intersection.

The female pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and then transferred to a Toronto area trauma centre for treatment where she remains in serious condition.

The driver of the Honda Civic was uninjured, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police were called and the road was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation.
