Mother charged after allegedly leaving infant in hot car

An Oshawa mother has been charged after a seven-month-old baby girl was found alone crying in a vehicle.

On July 7, at approximately 12:50 p.m., police were called to the parking lot at the Delpark Homes Centre on Harmony Road in Oshawa after a woman walking by discovered an infant crying in a vehicle.

The door was unlocked, so the woman took the baby out and called 911.

The infant was taken to hospital to be examined. She was medically cleared and turned over to her father.

Police located the mother in a nearby park with her other small children.

The 32-year-old woman from Oshawa has been charged with abandoning a child and criminal negligence. She was released on a promise to appear and her name is being withheld to protect the children’s identity.
