Brandon Halliburton’s three-pointer with 3.4 seconds to go proved to be the difference on Saturday night as the Durham College men’s basketball team walked away with an 85-82 victory over the Canadore Panthers.
With 12.1 seconds to go, the game was tied 82-82, but Halliburton was able to get off a clean three with just seconds remaining.
With the Panthers looking for a three of their own to send the game to overtime, Funsho Dimeji intercepted a pass to kill the final seconds and give Durham the victory.
Dimeji and Halliburton led the Lords in the back-and-forth game, with 25 and 19 points respectively. Dimeji also had a team-high eight boards.
With a few games in hand, Durham is now two points out of a playoff spot as they prepare for back-to-back home games next weekend. They welcome the Algonquin Thunder on Feb. 3 before an afternoon game against the La Cité Coyotes on Feb. 4.
