A man got more than just Bowmanville’s best ribs at the town’s recent Ribfest.
At approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, June 10, officers were assisting security staff at the Bowmanville Rockin’ Rotary Ribs and Brews event with an intoxicated male. According to police, the male was trying to force his way into the event after being refused entry. While officers were attempting to arrest the male, police say he hit one of them on the head and ran off. After pursuing the suspect for a short distance on foot, an officer used his conducted energy weapon – better known as a Taser – at the suspect, subduing him.
An 18-year-old male of Down Crescent in Oshawa has been charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, possession of cocaine, intoxicated in a public place and consuming alcohol under the age of 19 in connection with this incident.
