Man points replica firearm at police

A 34-year-old male has been arrested after being seen walking around Oshawa with two replica firearms.

On Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to King Street and Stevenson Road in Oshawa after citizen reports of a male walking around with an assault rifle. Officers located the suspect with a rifle in plain view slung around his body. The suspect pointed the rifle at one of the responding officers but was taken into custody without incident.

Officers seized an air-soft rifle and an air-soft handgun. The pellet guns were designed to resemble real firearms.

A 34-year-old male of no fixed address is charged with pointing a firearm and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace. He was released on a promise to appear.
