Have your voice heard by the city

Dear Editor,

Oshawa city council will be meeting on March 20 to decide whether to hold a byelection to fill a vacant council seat or to appoint a citizen for the balance of the current term of council.

It is important for the citizens of Oshawa to have their say in assisting council to make their decision. The city’s website provides the information for citizens to do exactly that by writing a letter and submitting it before March 16 or by completing a delegation request form if they would like to speak to the issue.

I encourage all citizens who are interested in their local political scene to get involved in this issue. If you have an opinion regarding the holding of a byelection or the process of appointing a citizen, please take the time to let members of city council know. This will be a major decision that council will be making and will determine who will be representing you until the next municipal election in 2018.
