The fourth week of the Durham Regional Police’s Festive RIDE campaign has come to an end, with officers stopping more than 1,500 vehicles and charging 20 drivers with drinking and driving related offences.

The RIDE program conducted checks in Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Port Perry, Uxbridge and Clarington.

After the fourth week, the RIDE team has charged a total of 72 motorists for drinking and driving offences. Last year at the same time, 75 had been charged. Another 59 motorists had their driver’s licence suspended for three days.

A complete list of those charged with drinking and driving offences will be posted on the DRPS website.
