Expansion of airport-area trail begins

The trail project along the east side of the Oshawa Executive Airport is underway and will involve the development of a paved three-metre wide recreational trail over the footprint of an existing trail.

This trail will connect the multi-use path at Taunton Road West to Glencairn Street in the Glen’s Neighbourhood and help satisfy an important link for Durahm Region’s Active Transportation Master Plan.

For more information on the Active Transportation Master Plan, visit www.oshawa.ca/itmp.

To help facilitate the development of the trail, removal of trees will be required and access to the trail will be prohibited while work is underway. It is expected that the trail development will be complete in August, depending on weather.

The airport terminal building, hangars and businesses, including the Ontario Regiment Museum, will remain open.

This proposed trail link is a development related trail funded through Development Charges (DC’s) and was approved in the 2017 capital budget.
