Police have arrested an Ottawa man in connection with a white powder being found in the mail at an Oshawa office in 2014.
On Oct. 15, 2014, police responded to the Ministry of Finance building on King Street West after an employee opened a piece of mail and a white substance poured out. The building was evacuated, with six people taken to hospital to be checked out.
No people complained of any ill effects, and the white powder was later found to be non-toxic and posed no risk.
A police investigation determined the envelope had been stolen from an Ottawa-area resident. After a warrant was issued, a man turned himself in over the weekend.
A 28-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with mischief, theft from mail and possession of stolen property in connection with this incident.
