Police say foul play is not suspected, cause of death remains unknown

Railworkers at the Oshawa Harbour were shocked by a discovery made at the site Sunday evening – the body of a young male.
However, police have now determined foul play is not suspected in his death.
The Durham Regional Police cordoned off the scene near the railways tracks at Harbour Road near Farewell Street around 5 p.m. on May 15 after the body of a male in his 20s was found, with the coroner’s office brought in for a preliminary examination.
A cut on the male’s body was discovered, resulting in the body being sent to the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service to determine a cause of death. However, the post-mortem discovered that the cut did not contribute to the man’s death.
The man has also been identified, with police awaiting toxicology results to determine if drugs were a factor in his death.
Anyone with new information about the incident is asked to contact Det. Short (ext. 5407) or Det. Horrocks (ext. 5418) of the Major Crime Branch at 1-888-579-1520.
