Arrests made in Canada Day assault

All three suspects wanted in connection with an assault of a male in a wheelchair on Canada Day in Oshawa have been arrested and charged.

The assault took place on July 1 at approximately 11 p.m. when the 50-year-old man was seated in his wheelchair on the bike path near Wentworth Street East. He became involved in an altercation with the suspects, one of who struck him in the head causing serious injuries.

A 24-year-old female of Oxford Street is charged with aggravated assault; assault with a weapon; possession of a dangerous weapon; and assault.

A 29-year-old female of Oxford Street and 18-year-old female of Taunton Road have both been charged with aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon.

All three were later released on promises to appear. Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact D/Cst. Powell of Central East Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2739.
