Arrest made in Elgin Court shootings, two suffer gunshot wounds

Police continue to search for suspects after making one arrest in connection to a downtown shooting that sent three people to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, Durham Regional Police officers were called to an apartment building on Elgin Court in Oshawa after numerous citizens reported hearing multiple gunshots in the vicinity. Several males were seen running from the scene in different directions.

Officers arrived and located a 54-year-old female and 23-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were rushed to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injures and later transferred to a Toronto trauma centre. The third shooting victim, a 22-year-old male, was taken to hospital by a friend and also treated for non-life threatening injures.

Officers started an immediate search of the area, locating and arresting one suspect on Gladstone Street at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Police say the incident began as a disturbance between several people at an apartment located on Elgin Court. It is unknown at this time how many guns were used in the shooting.
