Local car enthusiasts looking to do some last minute tinkering will feel right at home at Pineridge NAPA Auto Parts.

This includes Lucien Richard, a member of the Motor City Car Club.

Richard says he’s been a customer of Pineridge NAPA Auto Parts for years.

Assistant manager Brian Johnston says the store has been part of the Oshawa community for 40 years.

NAPA, which was founded more than 90 years ago, has close to 600 stores throughout Canada.

Johnston says they get a good variety of cars and projects, imported and domestic, at the Oshawa store.

“Recently we had a customer redo a ’70 Impala… Did a beautiful restoration on it – beautiful job when it was done. Also, we just had a customer restore a factory Volkswagen Beetle from the 60s,” says Johnston.

NAPA is a sponsor of the 26th annual Autofest taking place on Aug. 24 and 25.

Local staff will be on hand at Lakreview Park giving away door prizes, says Johnston.

He says Autofest is s great event to sponsor because it celebrates the automobile culture in the Oshawa area.

He notes many customers who shop with them attend Autofest, including members of the Motor City Car Club.

“A lot of the Motor City members, they give us a lot of support,” he says.

Johnston says he will be there with his own vehicle, a 1966 Chevrolet pickup, for both days.

Richard is the owner of a 1937 Chevrolet, which he purchased from his son.

“He had it for three months and decided to buy a house and get married, so I ended up with it,” he says with a chuckle.

The car is white with red detailing and Richard notes it still drives well, featuring 340 horsepower.

“I enjoy driving it. If you build your own car, it’s different than a store bought car,” he says.

Richard notes if shoppers come to NAPA, they can buy everything they need for a tune up.

“We’re here all the time, Monday to Saturday, and we look after your basic automotive needs… we help everybody out,” says Johnston.

The store is located at 1-717 Wilson Road South in Oshawa. For more information, visit
