Subs donated to healthcare workers, shelters

Firehouse Subs has donated more than 300 meals to organizations and healthcare facilities in Oshawa.

A local restaurant franchisee has donated more than 300 meals to local organizations and healthcare facilities.

Seeing a need in the community during the current COVID-19 pandemic, Firehouse Subs of Canada area representatives Alex Gerzon and George Heos partnered with Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to donate the meals.

According to a Firehouse Subs press release, approximately 40 meals were delivered to two women and children’s shelters, more than 60 meals to Lakeridge Health Oshawa, and more than 200 meals to staff at Hillsdale Terraces.

“We need to support each other, now more than ever,” states Heos in the release. “We’re honoured to do our part to help the community we live and work in. Donating these meals is the least we can do. It’s important for all of us to think of our neighbours and help them when we can,” he continues.

Firehouse Subs restaurant owners across Ontario have partnered with Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to feed first responders and healthcare workers, as well as individuals, seniors and families in need through a dedicated COVID-19 Disaster Relief Fund.

Since March 18, nearly 5,000 subs have been donated through the COVID-19 relief fund.

Donations to the foundation can be made in any Firehouse Subs restaurant in Ontario, or online at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/firehouse-subs-public-safety-foundation-of-canada/.
