Region hosting film industry career fairs

Events being offered for postsecondary, continuing education and high school students

The Durham Region Film Commission will be hosting three film industry career fairs beginning later this month.

The fairs offer participants a chance to meet industry professionals, visit interactive displays and learn about job opportunities in the film and television industry.

The film industry career fairs for post-secondary students will be on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Durham College/Ontario Tech University, Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre, 2000 Simcoe Street North.

The adult continuing education fair will be on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Archbishop Anthony Meagher, Catholic Continuing Education Centre, 850 King Street Wes in Oshawa , Unit 26.

A third event, open to high school students, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

These career fairs will feature jobs in the film industry including: lighting, make-up, performers, prop design, set dressing, sound,     special effects, electrical, wardrobe, painters, graphic designers, editing, location scouts, truck drivers, accounting, directors, cinematographers, production managers and post-production.
