Peony Festival set to bloom

Oshawa residents and visitors alike will have an opportunity to take in hundreds of flowers at the 11th-annual Peony Festival on June 13 and 14.
The 11th-annual Peony Festival is set to get underway later this month.
The city has announced there will be 300 different varieties of peonies at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens, located next to the Children’s Arena at 155 Arena St.
“Oshawa’s Peony Festival is more than just flowers, but we certainly have a glorious collection of them at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens,” states Councillor Bob Chapman in a news release. “In addition to the numerous varieties of peonies, there will be artisans, live music, an art competition, a photo contest and much more. Sounds like a great June weekend is in store for us all.”
In addition, there will also be a companion event held at Parkwood. The Victory Garden Party will bring the Second World War era back to life with croquet, era-appropriate vehicle displays and more. There will be a shuttle between Parkwood and the festival.
