Oshawa youth charged with making online threats

An Oshawa youth has been charged after allegedly threatening another boy online.

According to Durham police, on Sunday, Nov. 3, a 12-year-old boy was chatting online with another 11-year-old male.

Police say the older boy indicated he planned to come to the younger boy’s school in Oshawa with a gun and harm him.

The name of the school was withheld by police to protect the identity of the victim.

According to police, further investigation revealed the 12-year-old didn’t have access to a weapon, and nobody was harmed.

The older boy was charged with uttering threats to cause bodily harm, and was released on a promise to appear.
