Oshawa resident antes up, wins big
Oshawa resident Christian Knight is the recent winner of a poker lotto jackpot.
Knight brought home just over $82,500 from the win, including an additional $5,000 on the instant potion of his poker lotto play, bringing his total to just over $87,500.
“I didn’t realize I had won, the clerk had to point it out,” says the 42-year-old forklift operator. “I asked the clerk if I won $5,000, and he said, ‘No, you won the jackpot!’ I started shaking – I couldn’t believe it.”
Christian says he plans to invest half his prize winnings into his mortgage and savings, while plans for the other half include a new car.
“I’m thinking a Honda Civic XR,” he says.
As a homeowner, Christian says there’s always work to be done and this win is a big deal for him.
“This money is a huge blessing that will help me to get back into the joy of being a homeowner,” he says.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Petro Canada on Taunton Road in Oshawa.
