Oshawa man arrested for multiple break-ins
A 27-year-old Oshawa man has been arrested after three homes were broken into in Clarington.
Police were dispatched to a residence in the area of Nash Road and Trulls Road on Thursday, Jan. 14 for reports of a suspicious person.
Police searched the area and located a stolen Audi vehicle parked on the street. While searching for the suspect, police received a second call of a break and enter in progress.
The elderly victim confronted the suspect who was inside the residence. The suspect assaulted the victim and fled the residence on foot.
The suspect was arrested with the assistance of the K-9 unit while attempting to fee into a neighbouring yard.
The suspect suffered minor injuries as a result of a dog bite and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Officers believe the suspect entered three separate residences and stole personal items from within the home.
A 27-year-old Oshawa man is facing numerous charges, including three counts of break and enter, theft of a motor vehicle, assault, possession of a property obtained by crime under, possession of property obtained by crime over, operating a conveyance while prohibited, possession contrary to a prohibition order, and nine counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
