Miller named to All Tournament Team at Sunbelt Classic

Jacob Miller of the Oshawa 16U Legionaires was named Team Canada’s MVP for the Sunbelt Classic Tournament.

He was also named to the All Tournament team in Oklahoma.

Miller, a catcher for the Oshawa 16U team, had a strong showing at the event, including a perfect day at the plate in Canada’s 16-3 pounding of the Oklahoma Royals.

Miller was 3-for-3 in the final game of the tournament. He had an RBI, as did 16U catcher Colin Cymbalista, who also went 2-for-2.

Tyler Robichaud of the 16U squad was in three at bats.

Overall, Miller went 5-for-14, five runs scored, five RBI, two doubles, a triple and two stolen bases.

He also pitched two hitless, scoreless innings for Team Canada.

Cymbalista had a strong tournament going 6-for-17 with three RBI in the six games. Robichaud was 2-for-7 at the plate and didn’t give up any runs in three innings of work.

Jamie May, 18U Legionaires head coach, was one of the coaches for Team Canada.

Former Legionaire Joe Kuin went 4-for-15 in the tourney, including a 3-run home run in the final game. He also pitched one scoreless inning.

The Sunbelt Classic is one of the top showcase tournaments for high school players in North America and attracts several high profile college scouts every year.
