Man recovering after stabbing incident

An Ajax man has been charged after a stabbing incident in Oshawa.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers were called to a disturbance inside the Smoke Ways convenience store on King Street East.

A man was inside the store when he became enraged and began knocking over shelves. He then left the store and got into a physical altercation with a second man outside.

During the fight, the victim’s cell phone fell to the ground. The suspect grabbed the phone and began walking away. When the victim objected, the accused rushed at the 53-year-old victim and stabbed him several times.

Officers arrived and located the victim in the north part of the parking lot. He was rushed to a Toronto hospital with multiple, serious injuries and is in stable condition.

Officers searched the area, but no arrests were made.

The suspect attended the front desk of Central East Division in downtown Oshawa on Sunday, Dec. 8, at approximately 5:30 p.m. and turned himself in.

The 26-year-old man of Knapton Avenue in Ajax has been charged with: attempt murder, robbery, possess weapon for dangerous purpose and mischief. He was held for a bail hearing.
