Man asking to warm up tries to rob restaurant

Police have released a surveillance photo of a suspect who robbed an Oshawa restaurant earlier this month.

On Monday, Feb. 3 at approximately 1:30 a.m., a store employee was in the process of closing the Shawarma 401 restaurant on Wilson Road North.

The suspect asked to come in to warm up for a few minutes. The victim allowed him into the restaurant and this was when the suspect, armed with a knife, made a demand for cash. The suspect eventually left the store empty-handed.

The employee didn’t suffer any physical injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid 40s, 6’1” tall with a medium build. He was wearing a grey coat, black pants and blue hat.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact the DRPS Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5355.
