Free on-street parking downtown
On-street parking downtown is free this holiday season.
The city initiative is in support of the #OshawaLovesLocal campaign, which highlights community-owned and family-led local businesses – the “pillars of the community as they build strong neighbourhoods, sustain services and support local charitable causes,” states the city.
Community members are encouraged, whenever possible this season, to support local and buy local.
In addition to the free on-street parking, there is free parking in four downtown municipal parking lots over the holidays: lot 4 on Athol Street (between Centre and Simcoe streets), lot 18 on William Street (at Carriage Works), lot 50 located on the west of the Oshawa Public Libraries’ McLaughlin branch, and lot 52 located on the west side of City Hall.
The free parking will be in effect up to and including Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021.
While parking is free, the posted time limits for parking still apply.
Monthly parking rates still apply for monthly permits and short-term parking rates still apply at parking lot 16 and parkades 1 and 3.
Due to winter and seasonal parking regulations, on-street parking is not permitted on Oshawa streets between the hours of 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Furthermore, vehicles parked on Oshawa streets at any time while salting or snow clearing is underway may be ticketed and/or towed.
