Epilepsy Durham expo looks to educate the public
Event to include speakers who specialize in epilepsy
Every day 38 Canadians are diagnosed with epilepsy, which is why Epilepsy Durham Region is looking to educate the public.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, Epilepsy Durham will bring together experts on epilepsy treatment and research to discuss developments in the world of epilepsy and how the brain works.
The goal is to improve the lives of people with epilepsy.
“It is often reported by our clients that feelings of isolation and loneliness are great barriers for those affected by this catastrophic neurological disease,” said Epilepsy Durham CEO Dianne McKenzie in a press release.
Epileptologist Eduard Bervcovici will speak about potential new therapies, while Dr. MacIntyre Burnham will share new research on the use of medical cannabis.
Finally, Dr. Carlos Florez will share his perspective about the social aspects of epilepsy in young people before and after treatment.
Healthcare professionals, families and caregivers are invited to attend this event.
There is a required $20 registration donation.
Complementary lunch and snacks will be provided throughout the day
The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Whitby Public Library main branch, 405 Dundas Street West.
