Adult Day Program Awareness Week is being celebrated in Durham Region from Oct. 21 to 25.
For caregivers of adults living with a cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, the region offers three adult day programs, including one at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa. These programs provide supervised, therapeutic, social and recreational programming in a safe setting.
The Hillsdale Estates adult day program operates Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Extended hours are available.
The progam is located at Hillsdale Estates, 590 Oshawa Boulevard North.
According to a region media release, these programs assist clients in achieving and maintaining their highest level of functioning.
Adults with cognitive impairments will participate in a number of activities based on their individual interests and abilities with professional and experienced staff.
The programs also offer a break for caregivers and family members to enjoy personal time.
There is currently space in all three programs.
