Durham police seize drugs, gun in traffic stop

A traffic stop in Oshawa has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old after drugs, a loaded handgun and ammunition were discovered.

On Saturday, April 18, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police stopped a silver Volkswagen near Park Road and Bloor Street in Oshawa. A quantity of cocaine was observed in the vehicle and the driver was arrested. During the investigation, officers located a loaded handgun, ammunition and seized approximately $10,000 of cocaine from the vehicle.

The 19-year-old Oshawa male is facing 13 charges, including careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
