Oshawa’s city manager has accepted a position with The Town of Newmarket.
According to a post on Newmarket’s official Facebook page, Jag Sharma has been appointed to the position of chief administrative officer with the town. He will officially take over on April 1.
The City of Oshawa had not formally announced Sharma’s leaving as of The Express’ press time.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Town of Newmarket team,” Sharma stated in a town media release. “I look forward to working with Newmarket Council, the community and the great staff to continue to create, innovate and move the Town forward to deliver outstanding results.”
Sharma had served as city manager since December 2015, after a tenure as community services commissioner.
