City looking into workplace vaccination policy

The City of Oshawa says it is “carefully considering” a workplace vaccination policy to help protect against COVID-19.

Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter says city staff members are working with its municipal partners in Durham Region to explore options in implementing a consistent approach to workplace vaccination policies.

He says this includes following the medical advice of the province and region, as well as ongoing consultations with the unions to ensure all health, safety and legal rights of workers are met.

“Exploring a workplace vaccination policy for our city staff, who have continued to serve our community throughout this global pandemic, is another way we can make a powerful impact,” says Carter.

Carter says the health and safety of the city’s staff and community members continue to be the city’s top priority.

“A strong vaccine mandate not only protects our team but also our community,” he adds. “I encourage everyone who is eligible to get fully vaccinated.”
